Household budget app for UK families (2026)

A household budget app for UK families in 2026: build a shared dashboard from a template, see bills, spending and who owes whom, and ask any assistant.

A family's money lives in several places: two or more current accounts, a joint account, a few credit cards, the children's savings and a pile of letters. A household budget app is worth having when it brings those into one page that everyone at home can read. Era does that with a shared space and a view you build from a template.

What should a household budget app do for a UK family?

It should show the family's bills, spending and savings on one page, let each adult choose what to share, and make it easy to ask questions in plain English. Era connects UK banks through open banking, builds a household view from a template and lets any assistant read the same shared figures.

You can start with one joint account and add more as the family wants.

How do you set up a household view?

Create a shared space, invite the other adults by handle or email, and open a new view. Era shows each template with your own figures in it before you choose, so the overview you pick is already filled with your numbers. Then drag the widgets into the order you like, and add tabs for bills, spending and who owes whom.

An assistant can set up the first version for you if you ask it to build a household view.

Who can change the view, and who can only look?

Each person has a role: owner, admin, contributor or viewer. Parents might be owners, a grandparent who helps with the school fees an admin, and a teenager learning the ropes a viewer. Everyone sees the same shared figures, and anything you have not shared stays out.

A "What I share" page lists everything you have put in, and one control stops it all.

What does the family see about its financial health?

A health tab turns your shared figures into a score and the numbers behind it: how much of the income is going out, how much is going into savings, and how any debts are moving. It is a good page to open at the start of the month or before a big decision.

Advice generation is coming soon.

Where do the family's documents go?

Mortgage letters, insurance schedules, school documents and a P60 can be filed in the shared space or in your own, and you choose which. Documents you put in the shared space are there for the whole household, which saves the hunt through someone else's email.
