Connect Perplexity to your UK bank accounts
Connect Perplexity to your UK bank accounts with Era's official connector: link your bank through open banking, add Era in Perplexity, then ask about spending.
To connect Perplexity to your UK bank accounts, link your bank in Era through open banking, approving access in your bank's own app, then open Era's official connector in Perplexity, add it and approve access on Era's consent screen. Perplexity then answers from your real balances and transactions, and the connector is available on Pro, Max and Enterprise plans.
Era is an independent company; Perplexity is made by Perplexity AI. Perplexity is a favourite for research, so it's a natural place to ask money questions that need the web and your own numbers together, such as whether a new savings account beats the rate you earn now.
How do I connect Perplexity to my UK bank account?
Link your bank in Era with open banking, then open Era's connector in Perplexity's directory, add it and sign in to Era when Perplexity sends you there. The connector is official, so there is no address to paste, and nothing connects until you approve it on Era's consent screen.
- Create an Era account at era.app. The Basic tier is free.
- Link your bank. In Era, choose Connect an account, pick your bank, whether that's Monzo, Starling, Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest, HSBC or another, and approve the sharing in your bank's own app (a live data connection, which is a paid feature; on Basic, add manual accounts instead).
- Add Era to Perplexity. Open Era's connector in Perplexity and add it. You'll need a Pro, Max or Enterprise plan.
- Approve access. Sign in to Era and approve the consent screen, where you see exactly what Perplexity is asking for.
- Ask your first question. "Where did my money go this month, and which direct debit is the biggest?" is a good start.
What can Perplexity answer once it's connected?
Perplexity can answer from your real accounts: balances, spending by category, direct debits and other recurring payments, cash flow and forecasts, your financial health with the figures and analysis behind it, your investments, and the documents you've added to Era, such as a payslip or a P60. It can then set those numbers beside whatever it finds on the web.
Here are a few questions to try:
- "Compare my average monthly spending over the last six months with the UK average."
- "Which of my subscriptions have put their prices up this year?"
- "What's my financial health, and what would move it most?"
- "What does my ISA hold, and how is each position doing?"
- "Read the statement I added last week and tell me what the fees were."
Reading and analysis work on every plan. On a paid plan Perplexity can also recategorise transactions, add tags and set rules for you, and Era keeps an edit trail so you can undo any change.
Does Perplexity remember what I tell it about money?
Era remembers it for Perplexity and for every other assistant you connect. Tell Perplexity "I'm saving for a house deposit by March", and Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini know it too, because the memory lives in Era instead of inside one assistant.
Everything Era has stored is on the Shared memory page, under Agents, where you can change a fact or remove it for good. How to set up cross-agent memory walks through it.
Is it safe to connect Perplexity to my UK bank?
Your bank password stays out of it: open banking means you approve access in your bank's own app, and Era never has your login. Perplexity is a separate approved assistant, listed on Era's API keys page, and you can cut it off with Revoke and Revoke key without touching your bank link or any other assistant.
When your bank asks you to approve sharing again, you do it once in the bank's app and every assistant carries on. Era encrypts your data with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit, never sells it and never uses it to train models. Moving money between your own accounts is in private beta, it's off by default for every key, and every transfer needs your approval.
What if I don't have a Pro, Max or Enterprise plan?
The official connector is for those plans, and the rest of Era works with any plan of any assistant you already use. Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini connect to the same Era hub, so you can ask the same questions there and keep Perplexity for research.
Connect Google Gemini to your UK bank accounts and connect ChatGPT to your finances show the route for each, and which AI assistants work with UK banks puts every route in one table.
