Connect Google Gemini to your bank accounts
Connect Gemini to your bank accounts with Era: add Era's server in Gemini's settings, approve access, then ask about balances, spending and financial health.
To connect Google Gemini to your bank accounts, link your banks in Era, open Gemini's settings, add Era as an MCP server and approve access on Era's consent screen. Gemini then answers from your real balances and transactions across every bank and card you've linked, and it takes about five minutes, with no passwords handed to Gemini along the way.
Era is an independent company; Gemini is made by Google. Because Era connects banks in 40+ countries and keeps your memory in one place, the same accounts and the same goals are waiting whether you ask Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity.
How do I connect Gemini to my bank account?
Link your banks in Era, then open Gemini's Settings, choose MCP servers, add a new server with Era's address and sign in to Era when Gemini asks. Nothing connects until you approve it, and Gemini never sees your bank login, because Era holds the bank link and Gemini only asks Era for answers.
Create an Era account at era.app. The Basic tier is free.
Link your bank. In Era, choose Connect an account, pick your bank and sign in through the connection flow (a live data connection, which is a paid feature; on Basic, add manual accounts instead). Add your credit cards and investments the same way.
Add Era to Gemini. Open Gemini, go to Settings, then MCP servers, and add a new server. Paste this configuration:
{ "mcpServers": { "context": { "url": "https://context.era.app/mcp" } } }Approve access. Complete the sign-in when Gemini prompts you, review what Gemini is asking for on Era's consent screen and approve it.
Ask your first question. "What's in my checking account, and what did I spend this week?" is a good start.
If Gemini's screens look different from these steps, look for the setting that adds an MCP server by its address; the address is always https://context.era.app/mcp.
What can Gemini answer once it's connected?
Gemini can answer from your real accounts: balances, spending by category, recurring charges, cash flow and forecasts, your financial health with the figures and analysis behind it, your holdings across brokerage accounts, and the documents you've added to Era. It stops guessing at your money and starts working from it.
Here are a few questions to try:
- "How much did I spend on groceries this month compared with last month?"
- "Which subscriptions am I paying for, biggest first?"
- "What's my financial health, and what's pulling it down?"
- "What does my brokerage account hold today, and how has it moved this year?"
- "What does the statement I added last week say about fees?"
Reading and analysis work on every plan. On a paid plan Gemini can also recategorize transactions, add tags and set rules for you, and Era keeps an edit trail so you can undo any change.
How is this different from Gemini reading my Google Wallet?
Gemini's own look at your Google Wallet covers the cards and passes in that wallet, which is a handy view of one slice of your money. Era adds the rest: your bank accounts, savings, investments and cards from banks in 40+ countries, with your history, goals and documents kept alongside.
You can use both. Many people ask Gemini a quick question about a recent card payment and then turn to the Era-connected view for the bigger picture, such as a month's cash flow or a budget across two banks.
Will Gemini remember what I tell it about money?
Era remembers it for Gemini and for every other assistant you connect. Say "I'm saving $1,200 a month for a down payment" in Gemini, and Claude or ChatGPT already knows it the next time you open them, because the memory lives in Era instead of inside one assistant.
You can see everything Era has stored on the Shared memory page, under Agents, and change a fact or remove it for good. How to set up cross-agent memory walks through it.
Is it safe to connect Gemini to my bank?
Your bank login stays out of it: you sign in to your bank through a regulated connection flow, and Era never has the password. Gemini is a separate approved assistant, listed on Era's API keys page, and you can cut it off with Revoke and Revoke key without touching your bank link or any other assistant.
Era encrypts your data with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit, never sells it and never uses it to train models. Moving money between your own accounts is in private beta, it's off by default for every key, and every transfer needs your approval. Is it safe to give AI your financial data covers the rest.
Does Era work with my bank?
Era connects accounts across the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and 40+ countries in all. Start the connect flow in Era to see whether your bank is listed, and if it isn't, import a CSV export into a manual account and Gemini works from that history instead.
Which other assistants can I connect?
Every assistant reads the same hub, so Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok and the rest can work from the same accounts, the same documents and the same memory as Gemini. You approve each one on its own, and you can add or remove them whenever you like without touching your bank link.
Connect any AI agent to your bank accounts has the route for each, Connect Perplexity to your bank accounts covers Perplexity's official connector, and which AI assistants can connect to your bank compares them all in one table.
