Claude Personal Finance: what it does and what to add

Claude finance explained: Claude Personal Finance launched on 5 November 2026 for US banks. See what it does, what it leaves out and how Era adds the rest.

Anthropic launched Claude Personal Finance on 5 November 2026, a beta for Pro, Max and Ultra plans that lets Claude read your US bank accounts and answer questions about your spending. Era takes Claude finance further, with banks in 40+ countries, one hub for every assistant, shared memory, shared spaces, your documents and your live financial health.

Claude Personal Finance is a good first look at what an assistant can do once it can see your money. This page covers the questions most people ask next and how Era answers each one. For the side-by-side version, read Claude Personal Finance vs Era.

Can Claude Personal Finance connect banks outside the US?

No. Anthropic's help centre says you can link US banks only, so a bank in London, Toronto or Singapore is out of reach for now. Era connects accounts across the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and 40+ countries in all, and the same Claude can read them once you add Era as a connection. You can also link a US bank and a foreign one side by side.

Does Claude remember my finances between chats?

Not from the finance side. Anthropic says that once Claude has used your accounts in a chat, it is designed not to save anything from that chat to memory or search that chat later. Era keeps the memory instead, so your goals, your preferences and the answers you have given follow you from one Claude chat to the next, and into ChatGPT and any other assistant you connect.

Can I see my financial health?

Yes. Era turns your accounts into financial health figures and shows the metrics behind each one, so you can see why a number moved and what would change it. Claude can read those figures and the analysis behind them in any chat, and the same views appear on your Era dashboard. A score with its working shown is more than a grade, because it points to what to do next.

Can I see my investment holdings?

Yes. Anthropic's help centre says investment accounts show balances and credit limits, and not holdings, trades, rates or terms. Era reads your positions, lots and holding groups from the brokerages you connect, so you can ask Claude what you own, how it has moved and how concentrated it is, and get an answer from your real portfolio rather than from a single balance.

Can I share it with my partner?

Yes. Era has shared spaces, where you and a partner or housemate choose which balances to share and then keep the household in one place. You can mark a bill as paid, undo it, and split a cost, and each of you can ask your own assistant about the same shared figures. Your private accounts stay private unless you choose to share them.

Can Claude read my bank statements?

Yes, through the Document Library. Upload a statement, a payslip or a tax form and Era reads it, files it and shows the page it used. Transaction import fills a manual account from a statement, which is the way to bring in a bank that no connection reaches. Claude can then answer questions about those figures, with the source one click away.

Can I use the same data in ChatGPT?

Yes. Era is one hub that every assistant connects to, so Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest see the same accounts, the same memory and the same shared spaces. You approve each assistant once and can revoke it at any time. Switching assistants no longer means starting your financial life over, because the new one picks up where the last one left off.

Is there a Claude budgeting app?

Claude Personal Finance includes budgets among its widgets, and Era gives you the same views in every assistant and in a shared space. You can ask Claude to set a monthly limit, check where you stand against it halfway through the month, and carry that budget into ChatGPT without rebuilding it. For a first list of questions, see what to ask your AI about your money.

How do I add Era to Claude?

Create a free account at era.app, connect your banks, cards and investments, then add https://context.era.app as an MCP server in Claude. Approve the consent screen, which is the one step that cannot be skipped, and ask a real question such as "what is my balance across all accounts". The full walkthrough is in how to connect Claude to your bank account.

Is it safe?

Era encrypts your data with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit, never stores your bank login, and never sells your data. No model provider trains on the data you share, and you can revoke Claude or any other assistant whenever you like. Your activity log shows exactly what each assistant did. Is it safe to give AI your financial data goes through the details.

What should I ask first?

Start with the questions that need your real numbers: what you spent on dining last month, which subscriptions you forgot, how your savings rate compares with last quarter, and what your financial health looks like today. Then ask Claude to remember a goal, such as saving for a down payment, and watch it turn up in ChatGPT too. How to automate your finances with AI covers the rules engine when you are ready for it.

The bottom line

Claude Personal Finance shows what an assistant can do with a view of your money. Era makes that view bigger: more countries, more accounts, more assistants, your documents, your household and a memory that stays with you. Connect it once and every question you ask about your money gets an answer from your own numbers. See why financial AI memory should be portable for the reasoning behind it.
